University of Maryland School of Music 은 워싱턴 DC에서 14km 떨어진 Maryland 주 (州) College Park에있는 음악 

학교입니다 (이하 ‘UMD 음대’ 라 칭 (稱) 합니다.). UMD 음대는 Maryland 주립대학에서 가장 큰 공연 예술 기관입니다. 

UMD  음대는  학부와  대학원 과정을  포함하며,  PhD,  DMA,  MM,  MA,  BM,  BME,  BA  학위를  composition,  conducting,  

music   education, music history & literature, music theory, musicology, ethnomusicology, performance (piano, string, voice & 

opera, wind & percussion, jazz) 전공에서 수여합니다.

음대는 Washington D.C.에서 14km, Baltimore에서 48km 떨어진 Maryland 주 College Park에 위치합니다. 예술대학에 속하며, 

2001년 완공된 미국 최대 공연시설인 Clarice Smith Performing Art Center 로 이전했습니다. 미국 음대연맹 공인학교이며, 4주간 전문 음악인에게 시행하는 The National Orchestral Institute는 음대의 유명한 실내악 프로그램입니다. 이외에 Maryland  Opera  Studio, UMD  Choirs, Maryland Bands 등도 잘 알려진 프로그램입니다.

교육을 강조합니다. The New Lights Initiative 는 학생들과 교수진이 관습에 얽매이지 않고 청중, 음악인, 음악이 혼연일체가

음대 교수진도 막강합니다. 2011년 Orpheus Chamber Orchestra 와 작곡가 Morton Subotnick 를 상주 공연가로 맞았으며, 

십 여명의 National Symphony Orchestra 단원 들이 음대 교수로 있습니다. UMD 음대의 이름난 교수로, Larissa Dedova 

(piano), Bradford P. Gowen (piano), James Stern (violin), Kenneth Slowik (cello & viola), Eric Kutz (cello), Daniel Foster (viola), 

Carmen A. Balthrop (voice). Craig Kier (voice/ opera), Edward Maclary (conducting), Tim Powell (saxophone), Gregory Miller 

(horn), Sarah Frisof (flute), Kenneth Elpus (music education), William C. Evans (music technology), 등을 포함해서 약 100 여명의 교수진이 각 전공분야에 포진하고 있습니다.

학부과정 지원에 관심 있는 모든 학부 지원자는 다음을 수행해야 합니다. 

1. Apply to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by November 1 

2. Apply to School of Music by November 1, by completing the Music Supplemental Application through Acceptd.com.  

3. If you are applying for the Piano or Voice programs, you must also upload a prescreen recording through your application in 

Acceptd, following our prescreen requirements.
