Organist Julius Hartt 와 conductor 이며 pianist 인 Moshe Paranov ​에 의해 1920년에 설립된 the Hartt School​ 은 1957년 Hartt 

College of Music, Hartford Art School, Hillyer College를 합병 후 University of Hartford 로 인가 받고 설립됐습니다.  

University of Hartford의 종합 공연 예술원인 Hartt School은 Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, Hartt School의 the resident dance 

company 역할의 Full Force Dance Theatre, the Lions Gate Trio 의 고향이며, music, dance, theatre 의 공연예술분야에서 

세계적으로 명성을 떨치는 학교입니다. "Insurance capital of the world"로 알려진 Connecticut 주의 주도인 Hartford 시 인근의 소도시 West Hartford 에 위치합니다.  

Music, Dance, 그리고 Theatre 의 세 division 이 있습니다. 제 블록은 Music division 에 대한 설명을 중심으로 하고,  Music 

division 은 앞으로 '음대' 라 칭 (稱) 합니다.  

"The best way to learn and perfect your craft is by doing" 이라고 생각하는 학교는 전문예술인이 되기 위한 모든 과정을 

개개인에게 mentorship과 peer support를 통해 예술적으로, 학술적으로 엄정하게 교육합니다. 학생들에게는 폭넓은 공연기회가 제공되며, 이는 오케스트라, 관현악, 합창단, 실내악 등에 참여하는 것을 말하며, 심지어 솔로활동까지도 여기에 포함됩니다. 

매년 400회가 넘는 공연과 master class가 학교에서 열립니다.  

Hartt School 은 매년 10월 미국음대 아시안 오디션 투어의 멤버로 서울에서 오디션을 실시합니다. BA, BM, BFA, BM/MM 5 year double major, MM, DMA 과정과, 여러 자격증과정을 offer 합니다.  

Hartt School Degrees and Programs 

학교는 우수학생에게 공연기회와 전액 장학금이 지급되는 실내악 프로그램 Performance 20/20, Honors Chamber Music Program을 자랑합니다. 교직전공자들은 the Hartt School Community Division에서 얘들과 함께 실질적인 훈련을 할 수 있습니다. 또, 

경영전공자들은 internship program으로 The Bushnell, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Sony Records, 그리고 XFinity Theatre와 

같은 회사에서 일할 기회를 갖습니다. 

학교의 공연장으로 Fuller Music Center, Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 그리고 Lincoln Theater 가 음대의 

공연장으로 쓰입니다.  

Hartt School Music Performance venue  

Pam Frank, Joseph Alessi, David Kim, 그리고 Warren Jones와 같은 저명한 연주자 들이 마스터클래스를 위해 학교를 방문하며, 

Emerson Quartet, Miami Quartet, Miller-Profiris Duo, the Adaskin Trio, and the Philadelphia Brass Quintet 등이 the Hartt 

School 실내악의 맥을 이어가고 있습니다.  

음대의 이름난 교수로  Glen Adsit (conductor & founder of the National Wind Ensemble Consortium Group), Robert Black (Bang on a Can All-Stars), Robert Carl (composer), John Feierabend (music education researcher and author), Steve Davis (jazz trombonist),
