Audition Information
Jazz Drumset (MM & DMA)
l Live
auditions:
ü Prepare two to three contrasting selections from the jazz repertoire in a variety of rhythmic styles that best domonstrate time-keeping, comping and improvisation ability. Piano and bass accompaniment will be provided.
ü Sight-reading of a typical jazz ensemble drum part.
ü Demonstrate jazz abilities on vibes or piano if background allows.

ü Prepare a minimum of three and maximum of five contrasting selections from the jazz repertoire that best demonstrate performance ability.
ü Editing of recordings to focus on the applicant's skills is preferred.
Jazz Piano, Guitar
& Bass (MM & DMA)
▶Live auditions:
ü Prepare two to three contrasting selections from the jazz repertoire that best demonstrate improvisational ability. Bass line or comping accompaniment will be provided as appropriate.
ü Sight-reading of chord changes and melodies that demonstrate comping or walking style
ü Ear training: Improvise a melody against a jazz harmony

ü Prepare a minimum of three and maximum of five contrasting selections from the jazz repertoire that best demonstrate improvisational ability.
ü Editing of recordings to focus on the applicant's performance of the melody and improvisation is preferred.
