AUDITION DATE AND TIME
The audition dates for each instrument are listed online. You will receive another email very shortly with a survey regarding audition scheduling. To confirm your audition, you must fill out this survey by Monday, January 20. At the end of January you will receive your specific audition time. If for any reason you are not able to accept our invitation to audition, please immediately email lily.sutton@yale.edu.

AUDITION GUIDELINES

PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT
String players are strongly encouraged to perform their audition with piano accompaniment, and woodwind players are required to have piano accompaniment. If you are unable to bring your own accompanist to New Haven, we invite you to contact a Yale pianist to work with you. We will send you a list of available pianists when we send your audition time at the end of January. You may negotiate schedules and rates directly with the pianist you contact.

PRACTICE ROOMS
On the day of your audition, you will be assigned a private warm-up room with a Steinway piano for 30–60 minutes directly before your audition. You will be guaranteed the use of this room.

For additional practice, you may use Yale’s
practice rooms on the day of your audition and one day before. Practice
rooms will not be available on other days. It is not necessary to sign up for
these rooms. Rooms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms
should be equipped with a music stand for your use, but it is recommended that
you bring your own music stand as well. Please adhere to the following
schedule:
Practice rooms at 320 Temple Street
will be available from 8:00am to 11:00pm.
Practice rooms in Sprague Hall (470
College Street) will be available from 8:00am to 11:00pm. Enter Sprague
Hall through the main doors on College Street and go downstairs one level to
the practice facility. If the doors are locked, someone will be available
inside to open the door.

Two local hotels are offering a reduced rate for School of Music applicants. Both are in easy walking distance of the School of Music. The rate is $95 per night (plus 15% tax) for both the Omni and the Courtyard by Marriott hotels. To reserve a room, call the hotel and mention the "Yale School of Music Audition Rate."

CHECK YOUR MATERIALS
Please take this opportunity to check the status of your application materials on your online status page. If there are any items we have not yet received (letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc.), please be sure to submit them no later than February 15. Official copies of passing TOEFL scores must arrive in our office by April 1.
