Mannes와 Peabody는 May audition이라 해서 4월까지 원서접수를 받고 5월에 오디션을 치러서 가을학기 합격생 중 결원을 보충합니다. 매년 결원 수에 다소 차이가 있겠지만, 12월에 마감해서 오디션 후 4월에 합격이 결정되는 가을학기 입학생 보다는 숫자 면에서 훨씬 적으며, 입학하기도 쉽지 않습니다. 하지만 매년 이 May audition을 통해서 입학이 되는 학생들이 있는 것이 사실이며 어떤 사정 때문이건 간에 입학시기를 놓친 학생들에게는 도전해 볼만한 학교들이라 하겠습니다. 이 질문 역시 매년 학생들이 문의하는 내용이므로 정리합니다.

1. Peabody voice BM May audition information

• No auditions in Composition, Conducting, Flute, or Percussion

• No music education interviews

• No DMA auditions or Artist Diploma auditions

• No auditions for applicants to the Homewood/Peabody double degree program

• No graduate assistantships are awarded based on May auditions

Scholarships and financial aid for May auditioners will be dependent on funds remaining from February Audition Week.

Pre-screening recording

For undergraduate applicants intending to audition in person at Peabody, a pre-screening video with three selections must be uploaded to Decision Desk.  Of the three classical selections required, at least one should be in English and one in a foreign language. Selections must be memorized, and should show a variety of styles and tempi. 

Live Audition

Prescreening Round
All applicants for the voice concentration (undergraduate and graduate) must submit a preliminary audition recording via getacceptd.com. Based on this prescreening, they may be invited to the required live audition. *Exception: Voice applicants currently enrolled in a degree program at Mannes are not prescreened.

The recorded performance should be up to 30 minutes in duration and must consist of three works of contrasting style and language that meet three of the live audition repertoire requirements (see below).

Live Audition Round
Applicants must use an accompanist for all appropriate literature (Mannes will provide an accompanist, or applicants may bring their own). Applicants must bring sheet music for the accompanist.  All selections must be sung from memory.

Undergraduate Audition Repertoire (Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, Undergraduate Diploma):

1. An Italian composition of the 17th or 18th century

2. An art song in German or French

3. An aria or art song in English

4. An aria from an opera or oratorio of the applicant's choice sung in the original language (optional)
