Arizona State University (약칭 ASU)는 1885년에 설립된, 미국 Arizona 주 (州)에 있는 주립 대학교이며, 연구 활동을 인정 받는  

연구중심대학입니다. Phoenix Metropolitan Area 에 네 개의 캠퍼스로 이루어져 있습니다. (Tempe campus in Tempe, West 

campus in Glendale, Downtown Phoenix campus, and Polytechnic campus in Mesa) ASU 메인 캠퍼스인 Tempe campus는 주도 (州都)인 Phoenix로부터 동쪽으로 약 13킬로미터 떨어져 있습니다. 2018년 등록 학생 수 약 80,000 명으로 미국 주립 대학교 중 가장 등록학생 수가 많은 학교 중 하나가 되었습니다. 

The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University 는 2009년 Arizona’s Public University system 의 상급기관인 Arizona Board of Regents 에 의해 Katherine K. Herberger College of the Arts 와 the College of Design, 기존의 두 교육

기관을  합병하여  설립  되었습니다.  Herberger  Institute  for  Design  and the Arts는 School of Art, the School of Arts, Media and Engineering, The Design School, The School of Film, Dance and Theatre; and the School of Music 의 5개 학교로 이뤄져 있고, 

ASU Art Museum도 여기에 위치합니다. 2014년 이후 사회학자이며 저자인 Steven Tepper 가 Dean 으로 재직하고 있습니다.  

음대는 실기전공으로는 Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet 전공이, 비 실기 전공으로 Music Therapy 전공이 Top 10 순위 안에 들어갈 정도로 유명합니다. 학부에서 BA, BME, Music Therapy, Composition & Theory, 그리고 Performance에서 BM을, 대학원 과정에서 

MA, MME, DMA, 그리고 Music Education, Musicology에서 Ph. D 학위를 수여합니다.

학교의 대표적인 공연시설로 1964년에 설립된 3,000석의 ASU Gammage Auditorium, 유럽 풍의 Evelyn Smith Music Theatre, 

음향적으로 완벽한 Katzin Concert Hall, 그리고 아름답게 설계된 Organ Hall등이 있고, 최근 U.S. World & Report Music School 

Ranking에서 8위에 이름을 올렸습니다
