Brass Audition Information

Brass (MM)

Prescreening Repertoire

Applicants will submit up to 5 video recordings (URL links). Please present a range of styles and periods.

Audition Repertoire

l  You will be invited to audition based on the quality of your recordings.

l  Brass auditions are scheduled independently (i.e. not on the general graduate audition ays).

l  Please contact the Brass faculty immediately after applying in order to set up your audition.

l  An accompanist is optional.

ü  M.M. candidates should prepare an audition of 20 minutes in length.

ü  Be prepared to perform contrasting solos, orchestral excerpts, and sight-reading.

ü  A live audition recital is mandatory.

l  An accompanist is required.

ü  D.M.A. candidates should prepare a 45-60 minute audition recital.

ü  The audition should consist of contrasting solo literature and 3-5 orchestral excerpts.

ü  For other guidelines the student should consult with the major professor.

ü  A live audition recital is mandatory.
