Prescreen Repertoire

 

l  Preliminary submission is by video and is identical to the live audition requirements.

l  Good audio quality helps the faculty make an accurate assessment of your playing.

l  The faculty would prefer a recording which does not have compressed dynamics. Try if possible, to set your recording levels manually. Please set the automatic volume to the "off" position.

l  Required undergraduate repertoire for both preliminary submission and live audition

l  Thirty minutes of memorized repertoire representing three of the following four style periods:

l  Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Impressionist/Contemporary.

 

Suggested live audition repertoire:

 

l  Prelude and Fugue from The Well-Tempered Clavier

l  A sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert

l  A solo piece from the Romantic repertoire

l  The addition of an étude is optional

l  A work by a 20th or 21st century composer

Live audition repertoire

 

l  A major work by J.S. Bach (excluding BWV 553-560)

l  Two contrasting works composed since 1750.

l  Tests in sight-reading.

l  Memorization of one or more works is encouraged.

* Please plan on spending 2 days with us. A practice session on the organ is scheduled the first day and your audition is scheduled the second day.
