Voice Audition
Information
All vocal candidates are required to provide
a headshot and resume at the audition.

Music Theater applicants must also perform two contrasting monologues no more than three minutes each. The monologues are to come from published plays. Monologues from musicals, television, or other mediums are not allowed.
A short dance evaluation, taught at the audition, will be used to assess your ability to move and potential for continued improvement. Music Theater applicants will be given a warm-up and ample time to learn the combination, with options to increase the difficulty as able. The audition combination will be performed in small groups. Please note that previous dance experience is not required for acceptance into the Music Theater track. Recorded audition applications will need to learn our combination as provided online. The link will be accessible through your Accepted application. Suitable dress for women includes jazz pants, tights, a leotard, dance skirts, or other form fitting clothing. Men may wear tights, jazz pants, shorts, t-shirts, or form fitting sweatpants. All students should bring jazz shoes, character shoes, and or ballet shoes.
Vocal Coaching (MM)
Candidates must
perform an on-campus vocal coaching audition. The audition will take place with
singer(s) provided by the Bass School of Music. Candidates will also be
interviewed by members of the vocal coaching faculty. The audition/interview
will be scheduled by the program director at a mutually agreeable time.

The selections chosen should represent the range of the
applicant’s skills and abilities. Specific audition programs (except sight
reading) will be determined in advance in consultation with the program
director, and a rehearsal with the singer(s) will be scheduled prior to the
audition.
Prior to the on-campus audition, submission of supporting materials, including c.v., portfolio of performances, recordings, etc., is encouraged.
