Conducting Audition Information

 

 

Choral Conducting (MM)

 

Prescreening Information:

 

As part of your online application, you will be asked to submit prescreening recording that is 15–20 minutes in length containing a rehearsal and performance of two works in contrasting styles. (Applications lacking any rehearsal footage will not be considered.)

 

Live Audition Information:

 

Graduate Choral Conducting Program: Interview (Live or Skype)

Invited students will have an interview with Conductor and Program Director James Bagwell. The final round will be scheduled by the admissions office.
 


Live Audition Repertoire:


- Mozart-The Magic Flute, K. 620 Overture (Beginning to measure 103)
- Beethoven-Symphony No. 5 In C Minor Op. 67: I. Allegro con brio (Beginning to measure 124)
 
Schubert-Symphony No. 8 in B Minor, D.759 (Complete)
- Copland-Appalachian Spring, Ballet in one act for 13 instruments

  (Beginning to rehearsal Nr. 14 & Rehearsal Nr. 26 to rehearsal Nr. 51)



Please note: During the audition the judges may ask the applicant questions about his/her performance.

 

 

 

Orchestral Conducting (MM)

 

Prescreening Information:

 

As part of your online application, you will be asked to submit prescreening recording that is 15–20 minutes in length containing a rehearsal and performance of two works in contrasting styles. (Applications lacking any rehearsal footage will not be considered.)

 

 

Graduate Orchestral Conducting: Live Audition at Bard Conservatory, Spring

Invited students will have the opportunity to audition live with the Orchestral Conducting Ensemble. The final round will be scheduled by the admissions office.

If you are invited for, but not able to attend the live audition, you may submit a video audition and the admissions office will schedule a Skype interview.

You may use your prescreening video for the final round.
