Composition
Portfolio Information
Composition (MA & PhD)
Applicants
for the Master of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy must submit the university
graduate school application, GRE scores, and a Professional resume (1–2 pages)
in addition to the completed application form.
Composition
After submitting the Rutgers University application, applicants will be sent a
link to complete the Mason Gross supplemental application. After submitting the
Mason Gross supplemental application, applicants will be sent a link to submit
a composition portfolio through an online portal: Acceptd. The composition
portfolio should be submitted by December 15th, 2018 and will
be reviewed as a prescreening. Applicants invited to interview will be
contacted by mid-January.
Music Theory
Applicants for music theory should upload analytical papers or graphs as a part
of the Rutgers University application. Sample works of model tonal composition
are welcome. After submitting the Rutgers University application, applicants
will be sent a link to complete the Mason Gross supplemental application. After
submitting the Mason Gross supplemental application, applicants will be
contacted directly to coordinate an interview.
Musicology
Applicants for musicology should submit research papers as part of the Rutgers
University application. Music-specific materials should be sent directly to the
Music Department or may be included with the regular application sent to
University Admissions (address below). After submitting the Rutgers University
application, applicants will be sent a link to complete the Mason Gross
supplemental application. After submitting the Mason Gross supplemental
application, applicants will be contacted directly to coordinate an interview.
