Voice Audition Information
Pre-Screening Requirements
A short
video of two arias and a song (one in English) is required to
be uploaded to the Peabody application for pre-screening. See the
detailed audition requirements for each program listed below.
Master of Music and Graduate
Performance Diploma
TEN
pieces are required.
- Please include three foreign languages and
English in this audition.
- Please show a variety of styles and include
operatic and/or oratorio arias and recitative.
- Must be memorized (except oratorio and/or
complicated repertoire of the 20th/21st century.
- For the MM in Early Music, requirements
follow those of the MM in Voice, except that four or five of the required
ten selections must be written before 1800.
* Please
note the requirements below for the pianist/collaborator who will be playing
for the audition.
Doctor of Musical Arts and
Artist Diploma
A FULL
RECITAL is required. (Approx. 50 minutes of music for DMA, 70 minutes for AD)
- This recital should demonstrate excellence
in programming.
- Repertoire in three foreign languages and
English are required.
- Repertoire should demonstrate a variety of
styles.
* Please
note the requirements below for the pianist/collaborator who will be playing
your audition.
*The
following is required by the voice department for our pianists/collaborators:
- Copies MUST be legible, with all notes on
the page, lined up properly, and clear.
- No FAX copies.
- Xerox copies are permitted but must be in a
binder (no loose pages)
- The pianist reserves the right to refuse to
play if the above is not adhered to. The voice faculty may decide not to
hear the balance of the audition as a result.
